Hillcrest Commons Celebrates Conte Community School Healthy Heroes

The Hillcrest Commons Healthy Hero program is an interactive healthy living project which was developed by Admissions and Marketing Director, Deirdre Tozer-Hayes. The fun, interactive task book was developed to be used with Grade 5 students. After an introduction around physical activity and its benefits, children are given a week to complete the 7 tasks. Health topics included are: family history, healthy eating, knowing the food groups, hydration, staying active, why sleep is important, and healthy aging. Those who complete the tasks are rewarded with a Healthy Hero t-shirt and water bottle.

In year two of the program, Conte Community School has joined Crosby Elementary. This will see more than 100 children take part in this stage of the program.

On February 28th, the students from Conte celebrated as they were awarded their prizes. Health Education teacher, Holy Soules, worked with Tozer-Hayes on the delivery to her grade 5 health class. During the afternoon presentation the students learned about physical activity and the super powers it has on the body. The children even got the opportunity to do some heart raising activities.

Congratulations to the Conte Community School Hillcrest Commons Healthy Heroes!
